The Light that Shines
My eyes blink open.
My head turns to face the window.
Streaks of orange and pink cut through the indigo of night.
But it’s not a new day.
I died while living, only to be born again in Truth.
Breath by breath, beat by beat.
I no longer make revolutions around the Sun, I make them around my heart.
All of this time, I thought it was the sunlight that woke me up.
It turns out, it was God’s light the whole time.
But it’s not a new day.
It’s a new life.
