Anchored
Sometimes it feels
as though the only thing keeping my body tethered to the Earth
Are the thinnest and most delicate of strings
That shudder and snap in headstrong winds
Cancer

Stage IV
(Snap)
I feel myself starting to float, my tentative connection to this life starting to waver and loosen
And then I feel it
Like a lighthouse in the storm, calling me home
I feel the weight of my world, pulling me down again
Anchoring me, steady and sure, to everything earthly.
The anchor, is weightless, and yet it carries the strength of forged steel and the weight of mountains.
I hear it in the dark of night, my anchor is just mere whisper.
She need only speak one word, to bring me back down to Earth:
“Mommy”
